The first round of this year’s AFL draft looks like being lengthy.

A raft of highly-rated Northern Academy, Next Generation Academy and father-son prospects should ensure a bidding frenzy in a compromised draft pool.

Gold Coast Suns Academy prospect Zeke Uwland – who has been sidelined with a back stress fracture this year – still shapes as a top pick.

The same goes for Brisbane Lions Academy member Daniel Annable, who captained the AFL Academy side in some recent exhibition matches.

Sydney Swans Academy member Max King is another high-end prospect with plenty of fans, as are Suns Academy members Beau Addinsall and Dylan Patterson.

Collingwood father-son prospect Thomas McGuane (son of Mick) has made a strong start to the season, while Richmond father-son Louis Kellaway (son of Duncan) is flying in South Australia and Carlton father-son Harry Dean (son of Peter) shapes as a promising prospect.

Essendon also has priority access to a pair of Next Generation Academy stars in Adam Sweid and Hussein El Achkar, who have jumped into top-30 calculations after huge starts to the Coates Talent League season.

The bidding on club-linked prospects will make for an interesting night in November, but the good news for clubs who don’t have linked talent is that there are plenty of other quality prospects available.

Utility Willem Duurmsa will look to become the fourth member of his family to reach football’s highest level and has shown plenty when running through the midfield this year.

Calder Cannons ruckman-forward Cooper Duff-Tytler could yet be the No.1 pick, with the mobile 200cm big man capable of doing it all around the ground.

Geelong Falcons rebounding defender Josh Lindsay continues to go from strength-to-strength and appeals to recruiters with his damaging left-foot kick, while big-bodied South Australian onballer Dyson Sharp, Eastern Ranges midfield bull Ollie Greeves and high-marking Sandringham Dragons key forward Archie Ludowyke are among other potential top-10 picks.

AFL talent ambassador Kevin Sheehan has put together this exclusive list of the top-75 draft prospects to watch this year, ahead of the start of the important under-18 national championships on June 1.
