Fremantle v West Coast AFL Round 3: Live updates, SuperCoach scores, teams
Two Sunday games to close out round 3 threw up a brand new cheapie and fresh questions about one of the biggest stars in SuperCoach. See the key takeaways here.
Adelaide is unbeaten – and second on the ladder – and Fremantle is on the board in 2025 as the second of three early bye rounds closed out.
And there were some big SuperCoach takeaways in another Best 18 round. Here’s what we learned on super Sunday.
1. We need to talk about Harry
Trade Harry Sheezel? That’s something I didn’t think we would even contemplate this season (barring injury), but some coaches will be hitting the rage trade button after the Kangaroos star battled to 89 points against Adelaide. A lot of those came in the last quarter after the game was over and Sheezel appeared to shift to half-back. Is Clarko going back to the future to get his star back in form? Riding out a big price drop is still the smart play - remember the SuperCoach mantra, back in your premos - but we need a big game soon to justify the big investment. And there is more bad news - master tagger James Jordan is waiting next Saturday night.

2. FOS makes money ... just
The Roos’ No.2 draft pick Finn O’Sullivan had a Break Even of 19 heading into the game, and he got there - but not by a whole lot. A small price bump is coming after his 44-point return, but the cash generation will dry up very soon if he continues his 41-point average. Every week ‘FOS’ does some special things and it only takes one spike score to get the cash rolling in - Zach Reid is exhibit A. But every week we wait is a week we could trade him to a much cheaper midfield rookie who will generate quick cash.
3. Forward rookie comes from the clouds
Isaiah Dudley was a late SPP signing for Fremantle, joining the list just before round 1. Now he’s a late forward rookie in SuperCoach, jumping onto the radar with an action packed debut that netted 82 points. The bulk of that came from two goals, but he had another four score involvements. He won’t play the Eagles every week, but another solid score and at just $99k he’ll be an option on the bubble in two week’s time.
4. Eagles’ POD cheapie
Ryan Maric topscored for West Coast with 123 points - a huge result for the 320 coaches who traded him on the bubble last week. Still in just 1 per cent of teams overall, Maric harvested kick-ins after a move to defence over summer. The former medium forward will have a huge bump this week from his $223k starting quote, but in such a lucrative role he is still a player to consider.
5. Get off Luke Ryan ASAP
Forgot everything you read above about backing in high-priced premiums. Ryan entered the season as the third most expensive defender, but throw that $628k price tag in the bin after three sub-100 scores to start the season. He still takes kick-ins but is averaging under 20 disposals a game for the first time since 2020 and his marks and tackles are both down. Unlike Sheezel, a quick recovery is hard to see – cut your losses now and jump on one of the many gun defenders pumping out big scores every week.
