Take a first-person visit inside Macquarie Point Stadium with a spectacular virtual reality tour released this week for the $945m multi-sport facility.

There is also an external fly-over highlighting the public spaces and access to all four stadium gates.

The viewer starts the tour on the concourse, called the Active Event Plaza, outside Gate 1 proceeding through security into the stadium’s light-filled atrium and up the stairs to the wrap-around concourse.

The visitor is welcomed on the level one concourse by bars and food shops and water views out of the floor-to-ceiling windows over the Derwent.

The view then shows the stadium filled with cheering fans.

Tasmania Football Club CEO Brendon Gale showed the videos to the Tasmanian Planning Commission on Friday as part of his presentation for a case for Macquarie Point Stadium.

“These are incredible animations that take you into the arena on match-day,” Gale said.

“This is a multi-purpose stadium, this isn’t just for football.

“This is for cricket, for events, culture, and the arts. This is for activation year-round.”

In the animation, green light fills the stadium for Devils AFL games and it changes to purple when the on-field action changes to a Hobart Hurricanes Big Bash cricket match.

It features flashing lights during a rock concert.

“The multi-purpose stadium can adapt to host a range of world-class events with ease, whether it’s experiencing our Tasmanian teams winning across a range of sports or dancing along with your favourite artists,” says the voice-over.

“Every moment here is unforgettable.”
