A pair of twin towers will be built in the heart of Palm Beach, dramatically transforming a large site in the suburb.
The EST towers, put forward by BKA Holdings, will have 14-storeys and are earmarked for a 2472 sqm site which fronts both the Oceanway path and beach and the Gold Coast Highway.
The towers will have a combined 98 units, with the western tower, fronting the highway, having 72 apartments, with a mixture of two and three bedrooms.
The eastern tower, on the beach side of the land, will have 25 three-bedroom units and a single four-bedroom penthouse.
A planning report lodged with the council reveals it will be a residential tower.
“The proposed development has been thoughtfully designed to allow for both towers to predominantly operate independently, sharing only access, on-site circulation, waste management, and infrastructure connections,” the report reads.
“It is anticipated that a principal Body Corporate will be established to manage the entire site,
with subsidiary body corporates created for each of the towers.
“The two towers have been designed in consideration of each other and the broader community, maintaining important view corridors towards the ocean and hinterland, as well as along the Gold Coast Highway corridor.
“Each of the units include a generous provision of private open space which capitalises on views towards the coastline and hinterland, maximising outlook through the considered aspect of the buildings.
“The proposal will provide 98 additional dwellings in a location that is well-located to accommodate an increase in residential density.
“The proposed units vary in their size and typology – contributing to housing supply and diversity.
“The two small-scale food and drink outlets at the ground level will assist in activating
the streetscape and also provide for additional convenience for future residents and the local catchment.”
It will replace a BWS, Maries Pizza and other commercial buildings as well as a single house.
It comes amid a wave of new towers planned for the suburb, which has undergone a significant face lift in the past decade.
In September, prolific developer Sherpa Property unveiled plans for Flourish on Six, a 12-storey tower which will have 94 units and is earmarked for a 1618 sqm site on the southern side of Sixth Ave, replacing buildings housing Palm Beach Physiotherapy, a dental surgery and a podiatrist clinic.
Last week, Planning and Environment Court Judge Michael Williamson defied Gold Coast City Council and 1863 other objectors and approved the redevelopment of The Collective site with a high-rise.
The land will be transformed into an 18-storey tower.
