Woman who believes she’s missing Madeleine McCann flees to the US amid death threats

Things have taken a drastic turn for the woman who believes she could be missing UK girl Madeleine McCann.

Police dispute Julia Faustyna’s claims she is missing Madeleine McCann

The Polish woman who believes she is Madeleine McCann has been bombarded with death threats, prompting her to flee to the USA.

Julia Wandelt made the claim two weeks ago, citing similar facial features to the missing UK girl – who went missing from Portugal in 2007 – and an abusive childhood.

According to the private detective and psychic medium looking after her case, Ms Wandelt was left feeling terrified and unsafe following a barrage of online abuse.

Dr Fia Johansson flew to Poland last week where she revealed she’d taken on the case, having spoken with Ms Wandelt’s doctors, friends and Polish police.

According to The Sun, Dr Johansson flew Ms Wandelt to the US after the online threats, with one message claiming there was a 30,000 Euro ($A48,000) bounty on her head.

“Thanks for the extra protection I love you USA,” Dr Johansson wrote on her Instagram page after landing at LAX airport. “Welcome to USA Julia - the land of love and dreams.”

Ms Wandelt - who has also been identified as Julia Faustyna and Julie Wendell - shared her views via Instagram as well, posting a video of herself at the airport saying she felt like an “angel” and “celebrity” upon landing in America.

“I’m excited thank you Fia,” she said.

“Never give up and believe in yourself dreams will come true.”

Dr Johansson told The Sun her number one priority had always been Ms Wandelt’s safety.

“The haters have been attacking Julia since she came forward,” she said.

“The situation in Poland is she has nobody. Her family won’t talk to her.

“Julia has never said, ‘I am Madeleine McCann’. She has lots of questions about her past and she asked for help. We are open to all possibilities.

“Having spent time with Julia and investigating this I do not think she is lying or making things up for followers, everything she says appears to be real.

“She says she was abused as a child and we have found evidence in court that she was abused between 2011 and 2012.”

Dr Johansson said she’d requested a DNA test from Ms Wandelt’s family, but her mother had refused to make contact.

“We can’t get a court order to force them to because there is a law against it in Poland,” she told the publication.

“We went to the police in Poland to report her concerns she may be Madeleine McCann but they said they do not have any investigations about any missing persons outside the country.

“The country where Maddie is missing from - Portugal - would have to force Poland to look at it.

“So the police cannot say whether she is Madeleine or not Madeleine.”

Ms Wandelt’s family have denied the claims.
