'In the shi*ter': Trump costs star $7m

Welcome to our live coverage of US politics.

As tens of thousands of people protested across the US and Europe on Saturday local time, Donald Trump issued a message urging Americans to “hang tough”.

The stock market has crashed after Mr Trump’s tariff agenda pushed the world closer to a trade war and more Americans are growing concerned at the administration’s direction.

The US President took to Truth Social in an attempt to rally support and claim other nations had been “hit much harder than the USA”.

White House releases video mocking deportees

“Already, more than FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS OF INVESTMENT, and rising fast! THIS IS AN ECONOMIC REVOLUTION, AND WE WILL WIN,” he wrote in typical fashion.

“HANG TOUGH, it won’t be easy, but the end result will be historic.”

It’s not the only signs of open dissent against the White House.

An official video mocking people being deported from the country has also caused outrage online as Americans variously described it as embarrassing and disgusting.

Mr Starmer also held emergency tariff talks with Anthony Albanese where he said an “all-out trade war would be extremely damaging”.

Meanwhile, major UK-based car brand Jaguar Land Rover has announced it will pause exports to the US for the rest of the month as it navigates new market conditions.

It comes as world markets continue to be rocked by Mr Trump’s tariffs announcement.

An analyst said $8 trillion had been wiped off global stock markets as Mr Trump’s actions led to “shockwaves in every corner of the world”.

Aussie products to be smashed by Trump's tariffs

China, on Friday, retaliated to the US by putting a 34 per cent tariff on many US goods and barring imports of some other American products completely.

The world’s biggest bank JPMorganChase has said there is now a 60 per cent chance of a recession, which could spread globally.

But Donald Trump remains insistent that his tariffs plans augers a “golden age “of America with tariff income and more domestic jobs.
