US politics live: Insane Musk pay approved, intense scenes as man collapses in White House

Donald Trump’s former right-hand man Elon Musk could become the world’s first trillionaire after Tesla shareholders approved a pay package for the CEO worth nearly $1 trillion in stock.

The announcement was made during the company’s annual shareholder meeting after over 75 per cent of shareholders voted in favour of the eye-watering pay package.

The room broke out into applause on the news, with the crowd cheering “Elon! Elon”.

Meanwhile, drama engulfed the White House as a drug company executive collapsed in front of Donald Trump in the Oval Office.

TV host and now Trump official Dr Mehmet Oz stepped in to help the man while the US president looked on in silence. The event, highlighting lower prices for “fat drugs,” as Mr Trump called the weight loss pharmaceuticals, was abruptly ended while medics took over.
