Israel-Iran conflict live updates: Iranian nuclear facility hit amid new missile wave
Australians stuck in war-torn Israel have vented their frustration at a DFAT bungle for assistance, as Iran continues to strike and Israel’s PM said Iran’s main nuclear site had been destroyed.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s handling of personal information to help get stranded Australians out of the war torn Middle East has been labelled “shambolic” after registrants were directed to a web page where they could sign up for language interpretation services.
Australians trapped in Israel were told in online correspondence, seen by News Corp on Sunday (Monday AEST), that an email they received requesting them to upload their personal information in order for them to be put on a registration list to be evacuated from Israel and Iran “contained an incorrect link”.
Instead of providing them with a registration page to lodge their personal information, registrants were directed to a Department of Home Affairs’ Translation and Interpreting Service for people with limited English.
The website said it was for “people with limited English proficiency and for agencies and businesses that need to communicate with their non-English speaking clients”.
It comes as explosions were herd over Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on Monday AEST and Israel’s PM said Iran’s main nuclear site had been destroyed.
