Women’s football star Sam Kerr admitted when she called a British police officer “f---ing stupid and white” she was hostile to him because of the colour of his skin, a London court has heard.

The Matildas star gave testimony on day four of the trial after Ms Kerr was charged with aggravated racial harassment of a police officer following an incident that erupted with a taxi driver over a cab fare – she later had a dispute with police officer PC Stephen Lovell at Twickenham police station in the early hours of January 30, 2023

On Thursday (Friday AEDT) a 30-minute expletive-ridden video from the night – which was played to the court earlier in the week – was also released and Ms Kerr can be heard yelling profanities at PC Lovell which included labelling the taxi driver a “dodgy f---ing c--t”.

On the fourth day of the trial at Kingston crown court in London where Ms Kerr, 31, is facing one charge of aggravated racial harassment, she told the courtroom that PC Lovell was abusing his “power and privilege” and was treating her differently after she had a dispute with a taxi driver over a fare.

Prosecution barrister Bill Emlyn Jones KC asked Ms Kerr, who describes herself as white Anglo-Indian: “At that moment of expressing your hostility to him because of what you thought to be his stupidity, you also chose to show hostility to him because of his whiteness?”

Ms Kerr replied: “It’s not what I meant”.

Mr Emlyn Jones KC then asked: “It’s what you did isn’t it?”

Ms Kerr replied, “It is what I did, yes”.

Dressed in a long-sleeved black collared shirt, black trousers and black shoes, the Chelsea striker gave testimony for several hours in the case that is expected to run into next week.

She was also asked by Mr Emlyn Jones KC whether she was “throwing her weight around” by saying “I’ve got all this money, I’ve got Chelsea, I’ve got the best lawyers”.

“Who is it with the power and privilege Ms Kerr?” he asked.

She replied: “In my opinion the police.”

Full 30-minute footage taken from inside the Twickenham police station in the early hours of the morning of the alleged incident also shows Ms Kerr telling police: “I’m not paying for some f---ing dodgy f---ing c--t’s f---ing c--t’s window. He deserves it”.

She continued: “No I’m not paying for it. I will sit here until 4am get the f---ing Chelsea lawyers on this stupid [beeping].”

Ms Kerr’s fiancee, West Ham player Kristie Mewis, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child, was also cross examined for several hours and was asked about Ms Kerr calling the police officer “f---ing stupid and white”.

“I think she has been treated differently and spoken to differently for her whole life and I think that she was feeling the same thing that she has felt before,” Ms Mewis said.

Ms Kerr was visibly upset when Ms Mewis was giving testimony and Ms Mewis also wiped away tears as recalled what happened on the night where she said she feared for her and Ms Kerr’s lives.

She admitted the pair were both drunk after being out together in central London and said the taxi driver was driving dangerously after Ms Kerr vomited while in the vehicle.

Ms Mewis also said she remembered “leaning back on my back and with both my feet” kicking through the taxi window and breaking it.

She broke down in tears while she was cross examined and said Ms Kerr is “so loving and she’s so humble” and “I wouldn’t want anyone else to be the mother of my child”.

The trial continues.
