Harry, Megan Netflix docuseries: Sussexes reveal their future is in the US

The final instalment of the Harry & Meghan Netflix docuseries gave fans and haters alike an insight into what the future holds for the Sussexes.

Prince Harry has revealed his future is in the US, where his mum had considered starting a new life after her divorce, as Meghan says speaking their “truth” has not brought them peace.

In the final episode of the docuseries, Harry said the couple were where they were meant to be and that they had plenty of friends around them, while acknowledging the gap between him and his father and brother.

He said he had accepted that he would never get “genuine accountability or a genuine apology” from his father King Charles, or brother Prince William who have misinterpreted “the whole situation” after he and Meghan aired their grievances to Oprah Winfrey last year in a bombshell interview.

He also admitted he had lost many of his UK friends in the process, but he had outgrown that environment and that they had new friends in California.

One, tennis star Serena Williams, said in the documentary that friends could be like family too.

Ms Markle also revealed that speaking the “truth” hadn’t given them peace, but that would come as they reclaimed themselves and reconnected with friends.

In a startling revelation she said she only got in touch with her niece Ashleigh Hale at the end of last year, despite saying in last week’s Netflix show that they were very close.

Then, Ms Markle said it had been “painful” having to tell Ashleigh that she could not come to the wedding, following advice from palace aides that it would be difficult to explain to the media, as her niece was the daughter of Ms Markle’s estranged half sister Samantha, who had been vocal in the press of her criticism of her.

The claim has since been denied by palace insiders who said they would never have stopped Ms Markle inviting her niece to her own wedding.

Footage of Ashleigh playing with Archie and Lilibet were shown, with Ashleigh admitting she had “missed so much of Archie’s life” but graciously saying that it didn’t feel like it.

Ms Markle said their new life in California allowed them to have “freedom to have family moments” like this one.

“I want our kids to be able to do that, to travel, to fall in love,” she said.

“I just want them to be happy.”

Harry said despite missing “the weird family gatherings” back in the UK, he can now do things he could never have done before, including days out at the beach.
