Camilla catches Covid after Prince Charles as fears grow for Queen

Buckingham Palace refuses to confirm whether the Queen has Covid despite Prince Charles and Camilla testing positive within days of meeting the monarch.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and future Queen Consort, has tested positive for Covid-19 just days after husband Prince Charles caught the virus.

Buckingham Place, however, has refused to confirm whether or not the Queen has tested positive or negative for Covid, saying only she had no symptoms and that they would continue to monitor “the situation”.

Camilla, 74, and Charles, 73, are both triple vaccinated and tested positive for Covid-19 four days apart.

Charles tested positive on February 10, less than 48-hours after reportedly seeing the Queen at Windsor.

Camilla continued with public engagements the day Prince Charles went into isolation, describing herself as “luckily” testing negative

“I’ve taken it so many times,” she said of her Covid testing regimen during a visit last week to Thames Valley Partnership in Buckinghamshire.

Clarence House said in a statement on Monday local time that the Duchess has also gone into isolation.

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self isolating. We continue to follow government guidelines,” the statement said.

It is the first time the Duchess has tested positive for Covid, while Prince Charles previously caught the virus in March 2020 during the first wave of the pandemic.

Prince Charles was believed to have met the Queen two days earlier when she returned from Sandringham to Windsor.

“The Queen and Prince of Wales did meet recently,” a palace source told The Sun.

The Queen was set to resume her regular work schedule following a four-month break due to health concerns, but the close contact with Prince Charles could change those plans as the palace monitors her for symptoms.

She already had a calendar full of light duties set for February, with public outings to have resumed in March ahead of her birthday celebrations in April, according to royal sources.

The Queen was ordered to rest after a gruelling schedule of 19 official events in as many days in October last year.

She pulled out of four major engagements and also suffered a back sprain. Before the health scare, she was the third-busiest royal despite her advanced age.

“Lessons have been learned,” the royal source said, adding: “The Queen’s diary is filling up again but it will be paced to what is appropriate

“They don’t want to put extra strain on her and other royals will help her out where necessary.”
