A man wanted by police has congratulated officers after he was found hiding behind a piece of artwork hanging on a wall in a Perth home.

Palmyra Police had been looking for a man with outstanding warrants.

In a video released by West Australian Police, officers can be seen searching a home in Perth’s southern suburbs.

The body worn footage shows the officers looking through the house, including searching the garage, for the wanted man.

After searching high and low, police seem to take an interest in a portrait of Marilyn Monroe hanging on the living room wall.

It was there they discovered a secret door leading to a blackened room.

Moments later a shirtless man emerges from the dark with his hand extended.

He shakes both officers’ hands in what appeared to be a congratulatory gesture for their efforts in finding him.
