Sky News host hits out at Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest over ‘lethal humidity’ speech

Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest has publicly denied rumours that he has fathered any love children.

The nasty rumour has followed the billionaire mining magnate round since he announced his split from wife Nicola in July.

According to the Australian, the rumour was so persistent that some people swore they knew someone that knew someone who’s baby went to kindy with the secret love child.

There were also rumours that he had fathered more than one child.

Many perpetuating the untruths argued that the non-existent love child/children were the reason behind his marriage breakdown.

Now, the Fortescue Metals Group chair has put an end to idle gossip by confirming that he has not had any children since the birth of his and Nicola’s youngest child Sydney more than two decades ago.

“Get up to speed,” he laughed when the Australian quizzed him about the rumour.

Mr and Mr Forrest were married for 31 years before announcing they were separating earlier this year.

Speaking about his split in a previous interview Twiggy said he and Nicola were still on good terms.

“Nic and I are good mates, we speak all the time. She’s a fantastic lady,” he told 9 News.

“We made the call that it was better for everyone if we didn’t live right on top of each other but we still absolutely support each other.”

The pair, who were Australia’s richest couple, decided to split their $35.21 billion fortune which was built from the iron ore miner which they founded in 2003.

Following the separation, Mr Forrest’s paper wealth took a huge hit and he fell from second place on the Australian Financial Review’s Rich List to 10th spot. He was worth $13.5 billion, according to the AFR’s analysis.

Meanwhile, Nicola’s wealth eclipsed that of her ex-husband’s after the split and she made her debut on the Rich List at eighth position overall. She became the third-richest woman in Australia, with a fortune of $14.6 billion, according to analysis from the AFR.
