Three boys, aged 12, 13, and 14, are in hospital after suffering “significant” burns in a house fire about 420km north of Perth, with one fighting for life.

The blaze broke out about 4.10 on Thursday afternoon in the Geraldton suburb of Mount Tarcoola.

Emergency services attended the home, near the intersections of Marinula Rd and Bushby Cl, and found three boys at the property who had suffered burns, and a fourth at a nearby home.

A 13-year-old boy was taken to Geraldton Hospital with what WA Police said were “moderate” burns, and has since been discharged.

The other three boys were flown to Perth Children’s Hospital in critical condition for treatment of “significant” burns.

A PCH spokesperson on Friday afternoon said while two of the boys are now stable, the third remains in a critical condition.

It took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control.

Arson Squad detectives combed through the scene on Friday to try and find what started the inferno.

At the time of writing, WA Police had no further updates as to their findings.

The boys were flown to Perth Children's Hospital by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
