‘Stab all the Jews’: Horror hacker threat after Perth teen ‘jihad’ shooting

Days after police shot a radicalised teen dead, a suspected hacker has threatened to “shoot up” a school.

Police are investigating threats made by suspected hacker posing as a Rossmoyne Senior High School student to “stab all the Jews” and “shoot up” a leading public school.

It comes just days after a radicalised 16-year-old was fatally shot by officers following a random stabbing attack in suburban Perth.

The threats were posted to a school forum on Monday night, triggering reports from several concerned parents to police.

“I’m going to stab all the jews and f****ts,” the post read.

“The reason I threw up gang signs in my photos is cause I always planned to shoot up at the school … you are all going to get punished for what you have said to me in school we will prevail.”

Rossmoyne principal Alan Brown on Tuesday wrote to parents confirming the forum had been hacked by someone posing as a Year 9 student.

“It has been confirmed that there has been a hacking incident and the messages have not originated from a student,” he said.

“Police have been notified and are investigating the matter and have confirmed that there is no additional threat to the school or our students.

“We understand you may have safety concerns and I’d like to assure you we have various support options in place for students and staff.”

But several Rossmoyne parents were keeping their children home from school on Tuesday despite the reassurances.

“WA Police have investigated reported online threats in relation to a metropolitan high school. The investigation identified the threats were vexatious and were not made by the ‘sender’,” a police spokeswoman said.

“Police do not have any concerns for the safety of the students, teachers and the broader community, and WA Police continue to work with the Department of Education to identify the source of the messages.”

The suspected hack comes just days after a 16-year-old male Rossmoyne student was shot dead by police officers after he charged at them with a 30cm-long kitchen knife.

The boy, who had converted to Muslim and was radicalised online, stabbed a man aged in his 30s in the back in a random attack in the Bunnings Willetton car park before he was killed.

WA Police Commissioner Colin Blanch said patrols had been sent to the school on Tuesday morning to reassure the community.

Mr Blanch maintained that the 16-year-old boy had acted alone.

He said the attack “meets the definition” of a terrorist act but had not been formally declared one because the special powers such a definition would invoke under the states Emergency Management Act were not required given the boy’s death.

“I don’t need to use them at this time,” he said.

“If that changes and more additional information comes to hand, I may need to declare it a terrorist incident or a terrorist act to use those powers but at this time I don’t need to do that.”

Whether or not the boy was bullied in the lead up to the attack will form a key part of the police investigation.

Mr Blanch said phones and other electronic devices had been seized from the boy’s home.

He said there was no police intelligence to suggest any of the teen’s peers were connected to him in relation the weekend’s attack.

Mr Blanch urged parents to talk to their children about their online presence.

“Parenting is really important at this time,” he said.

“It’s important all the time but even more so right now.”
