“You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes,” the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said.

“It’s too late to leave. Leaving now will put your life in danger.”

The blaze was first reported at 12.30pm and fire crews are continuing to battle the bushfire.

Resident’s have been warned to shelter in their homes in a room away from the fire front and in an area they can easily escape from.

“You must shelter before the fire arrives, as the extreme heat will kill you well before the flames reach you,” a warning said.

Resident’s should close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system.

People in the area have also been warned to escape to an area that has already been burnt if their home catches on fire.

A watch and act alert has also been issued for residents bound by Albany Hwy, Admiral Rd, Dryandra Dr and North Rd, including the eastern part of Bungendore Park.

An evacuation centre has been set up at Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Recreation Centre.
