Horror attack on mum with pram

A woman has escaped serious injury after a man allegedly attacked her with a hammer and a knife outside a petrol station.

Perth mum Fiona was trying to buy a bottle of water from a petrol station in Rockingham when she was allegedly attacked by a man unknown to her on Saturday night.

She told 9 News that she turned around to a man who looked at her and asked, “do you want to get hammered?”

“I was on the ground, I just kept on pleading with him, telling him I have kids, and that I couldn‘t die,” Fiona told 9 News.

She said she tried to get away multiple times but the man allegedly hit her “again and again” before she saw him with a wooden stake and a knife.

An attendant in the petrol station called triple-zero but had locked the doors, leaving Fiona stranded outside.

She said she was screaming at the attendant to let her in, before running to hide in nearby bushes and waiting until police arrived.

A man has reportedly been arrested over the incident and charged with unlawful wounding.

Fiona has been recovering in the Royal Perth Hospital, but has warned people not to go out alone.

“Always have someone with you.”

Western Australia Police attended the scene and arrested a 29-year-old Bullsbrook man and charged him with one count of intent to do grievous bodily harm unlawfully wounding another, along with other unrelated offences.

He is due to appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court on October 20.
