Mum rescued by Uber driver after being attacked by two dogs at a Perth park

A mother has recounted the horror moment she was set upon by two large dogs in a local park, before being rescued by a passing Uber driver.

A mother attacked by two large dogs that were off lead in a park in Western Australia was rescued by a passing Uber driver.

Helen Mato was walking through John Maloney Park in Marangaroo in Perth’s northeast when one of the dogs latched onto her knee and the other grabbed her groin.

She told 7News Perth that she fell and yelled out for help, screaming, but am approaching car just continued to drive straight past her.

Thankfully, a passing Uber driver saw the attack unfold and stopped to help Ms Mato escape the dogs by getting her safely inside his car, but the dogs didn’t stop.

“It was so horrible, they were attacking the Uber driver’s car,” she told 7News/

“I don’t know where they went after that.

“When I close my eyes I still think of the dogs.”

A neighbour told 7News they heard people yelling and screaming and dogs barking.

“It just sounded really bad,” a neighbour told the reporter.

A second woman in her 20s was also attacked by the dogs suffering multiple dog bite wounds and was taken to Joondalup Health Campus for treatment.

The City of Wanneroo has been contacted for comment.
