Man remains under police guard in Perth hospital after woman’s death

WA Police have taken a man into custody after a woman found with serious injuries later died in hospital.

Police investigating the death of a woman found with serious injuries at a home are now looking into a possible link between that incident and the armed holdup of a nearby service station.

Officers were called to an address on Knutsford Ave in the southern Perth suburb of Kewdale about 7.45pm Monday, where a 35-year-old woman was found with serious injuries.

First aid was administered by paramedics, before the woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where she later died.

Later, a 37-year-old man — known to the woman — was involved in a serious car crash at the intersection of Berwick and Emily Streets in nearby East Victoria Park.

At the time of the crash he was driving a grey Ford Ranger dual-cab utility with sports striping.

Police arrested the man at a residence in St James, and he was taken to hospital by St John Ambulance, where he remains under police guard.

Detectives are also looking into the armed holdup of a service station on the corner of Kent and Berwick Streets in East Victoria Park, and whether there’s a connection to the other incidents.
