At least 15 people injured in crash between truck and tour bus

Emergency services have rushed to a small country town north of Perth where a bus and truck have reportedly collided.

At least 13 people are believed to have been injured in a crash between a tour bus and a truck in Western Australia’s Midwest region.

The crash happened about 9.10am Friday on Port Gregory Rd, Sandy Gully, more than 450km north of Perth.

The tour coach was heading towards Northampton, about 16km to the southeast, carrying 45 passengers and two staff, while the truck was travelling in the opposite direction.

A WA Police spokesperson says 15 people were treated for injuries at the scene; 14 from the bus, and the truck driver.

Two of those are understood to have serious injuries, while the other suffered less serious injuries.

“Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are attending to conduct an examination of the crash scene,” the spokesperson said.

St John Ambulance says six people have been taken to Northampton General Hospital, while another eight people have been taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital.

Local police are also on the scene, with motorists urged to avoid the area.
