A TASMANIAN school has apologised after a vandal defaced its sign, changing the letters to a very rude and confronting word.

A foul-mouthed vandal reorganised the letters on East Devonport Primary School’s sign, welcoming students back to school as COVID-19 restrictions ease.

The school has since reported the vandalism to police and took to social media to apologise to parents, students and the community.

“Very disappointing that over the weekend someone chose to vandalise our school sign and place offensive language on it,” the school wrote.

“It has been dealt with and reported to the police.

“A big thank you to all those concerned members of our community to reported the incident and expressed their concern.

“If anyone knows anything about who might have done it, can they please contact the school or the Devonport police.”
