North Geelong Warriors is well represented at the National Youth Soccer Championships after 16 players were selected to represent Victoria.
The under 14 and under 15s sides will play a series of games against other state teams, with Geelong boasting 19 players from the region across two teams.
North Geelong junior coach Aaron Bailey said it was a proud achievement for both the boys selected and the program itself.
“It’s really exciting for everyone involved, obviously all the boys are really keen to go away and play for their state,” he said.
“It’s also a massive achievement for not only North Geelong, but the entire Geelong football community as well.
“We’ve put in a lot of resources into promoting our junior development programs and we’re seeing it pay off with selections like this.”
National scouts are expected to monitor the tournament closely, with the best junior Australian talent on offer.
Striker Patrick Wall is expected to be one of the most damaging products out of Geelong, with a chance to lead the competition in goals.
Wall will play in the under-15s team alongside Marko Juric, Marcus Peretin, Charlie Wrench, Arman Vejzovic, Luke Siketa, Rhys McGorman and Jasper Paton.
The under-15s side won its first game 5-1 against NSW Country, while the under-14s also won 3-1 against NSW Country.
In the under-14s there is plenty of talent across the field, with keeper Jake Bailey already playing NPL football.
He’ll be alongside Dante Conte, Dominic Posterino, Nikolas Didulica, Kijan Arjomand, Tobias Servin, Marcus Bei and Karl Leban.
Bailey said there would be an abundance of talent on display in both sides.
“There’s some seriously good players running around in both teams,” he said.
“In this crop there will be some players who play in the NPL, pushing into the A-League and potentially internationally.
“There will be plenty of them that have the attention of national selectors during championships.”
