Trent Theodore’s funeral to be held in Port Melbourne with a wake/birthday celebration at The Osborne
Melbourne’s night life community will gather to remember Trent Theodore in what will be part wake, part 40th birthday celebration.
Late Melbourne nightclub promoter Trent Theodore will be given a special send off on the eve of his 40th birthday.
Mr Theodore passed away suddenly on Monday from health complications and there’s been an outpouring of tributes and grief from the night life community.
The funeral will be held at Port Melbourne Football Club on December 13, followed by a private burial and wake/40th celebration at his beloved South Yarra venue The Osborne.
Mr Theodore, who was born on December 23, worked there for many years as well as other hotspots including Eve and Bar Bambi.
Among those to pay tribute to the kind-hearted 39-year-old fanatical Collingwood supporter were Yarra Council Mayor Stephen Jolly, The Osborne owner Simon Lennox, Bar Bambi owners Nick and Daniel Russian, the Lamanna family and Booby Tape founder Bianca Roccisano.
It’s emerged that before his untimely passing Mr Theodore was rocked by an assault outside his home in Melbourne’s northwest.
Police have confirmed they are investigating an incident that happened outside Mr Theodore’s Airport West home on November 14.
He had been left shaken after he claimed a man followed him and bashed him in his car.
“It is believed the victim was getting out of his vehicle on South Road when he was assaulted by a man about 8.30pm,’’ Victoria Police said in a statement.
“The offender fled on foot. The victim, a 39 year-old Airport West man, sustained non-life threatening injuries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. It is believed the parties are known to each other.”
The Herald Sun has been told by people who were close to Mr Theodore while the assault shocked him, it did not have any bearing on his death.
On Friday he presented to hospital, telling a friend he “wasn’t feeling right”, and passed away in ICU.
On his Facebook page after the alleged assault, Theodore wrote on November 15: “Sometimes in life something happens that rocks you so hard when you’re staring at death in the eyes and not sure if it’s gonna be the last time you see your loved ones! Shaken to the core is an understatement”.
“Thank you to those who have been there in the last 24 hrs. I don’t think I’ll ever recover from this but I know with your love and support I will never forget.”
