The Source: Wayne Carey poses with Comanchero strongman Tarek Zahed

Wayne Carey has been lighting up the group chats of Melbourne lately. This time, it’s a photo of the former Roo with a fan who made his name as a Comanchero strongman.

Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers.

It never rains but it pours for the man known as Duck.

Wayne Carey spent most of last week putting out fires stemming from the Toorak Cellars dunny imbroglio.

This week, undated pictures have been circulating around town of him with Comanchero strongman Tarek Zahed.

There is absolutely no suggestion Carey had any idea who Zahed was when the bikie asked for a selfie with The King.

He would have been just another in a multitude of fans to approach the obliging former Roo over many years.

But The Source can fill in the gaps about the man whose love of fashion once saw him dubbed the Balenciaga Bikie.

Zahed has a long history of violent crime which includes brutal assaults and a shooting.

He has previously been described by top police in New South Wales as a senior Comanchero.

Among his important roles has been holding down the job of sergeant-at-arms, a post which involves enforcing internal discipline.

In 2021, he was served with a serious crime prevention order by New South Wales police, a restrictive move which prompted him to relocate to Melbourne.

Zahed’s main claim to fame while here was holding up the 2022 Australian Open with a slow move back to his seat.

A few months later, he was shot multiple times in an underworld ambush which claimed the life of his brother Omar.

Zahed survived but has since done a prison term for hindering the gathering of evidence in a 2014 Harbour City gangland murder.
