One of racing’s biggest names, top jockey Jamie Kah, has revealed she will tie the knot next month.
Kah announced that she and her fiance, fellow jockey Ben Melham, would head down the aisle in the new year.
Kah shared news of her upcoming wedding on social media last week as she and Melham headed off to attend a friend’s marriage.
“Celebrating my best friend becoming a wife. Ours in a month’s time baby @benmelham,” she posted on Instagram on December 23.
Well-wishers poured into her social media, congratulating her on her upcoming big day.
Kah was previously engaged to trainer Clayton Douglas while Melham shares three children with his ex-partner Karlie Dales, with whom he had a 15 year relationship.
Kah is one of the racing industry’s most consistent headline makers and public fascination.
She is a horserider of extraordinary skill and in many ways is the current face of racing.
Kah and Melham were among six people present at a house party at a Mornington Airbnb that breached COVID-19 protocols in August 2021.
They announced their engagement in February – on Valentine’s Day – this year.
In March 2023 Kah suffered a horrific race fall at Flemington with her injuries including bleeding to the brain, which put her in an induced coma for five days, a broken wrist, foot and nose.
She spent five months out of the saddle before returning to race riding in August 2023.
She won the Group 1 Victoria Derby onboard Goldrush Guru at Flemington on November 2, the first day of the 2024 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
