Glen Waverley train line hit with outage as students headed to VCE English exam
Education minister Ben Carroll has assured VCE students hit by major train outages on the morning of the all-important English exam that they need not worry.
Victoria’s Education Minister Ben Carroll says any students impacted by a key Melbourne train line going down as they tried to get to their VCE English exam will be accommodated.
The Glen Waverley line, which services a number of schools in Melbourne’s southeast, was knocked out of action by a track fault about 7.30am Tuesday.
The train line services schools including St Kevin’s College, St Catherine’s School and Scotch College.
The outage impacted services between Burnley and Darling stations where buses had to be called in to get morning commuters to their destinations.
Trains resumed between Burnley and Darling shortly after 9am but major delays continued through the morning.

The English exam began at 9am.
Mr Carroll on Tuesday said there were processes in place to deal with students made late by public transport issues.
“There is always processes in place, whether it has been major disruptions to the morning, whether someone has come down with an illness, so the normal processes will apply for that,” he said.
