Much loved Essendon champion Dyson Heppell married his long-time partner Kate Turner in a wedding described as pure magic.
The couple exchanged vows at Barunah Plains at the weekend surrounded by family and friends.
Heppell, the former Bombers captain who retired last year after 253 games with the club, had many former teammates in attendance including Darcy Parish, Sam Draper, Sam Durham and Ben Hobbs.
His close friend, brave Harrison Pennicott, known as H-Man, who is battling a rare skin and auto-immune disease called scleroderma, was the couple’s ring bearer.
Turner looked stunning in a white gown by Marquise Atelier with Heppell wearing a traditional black tie suit and changing to a white jacket during the celebrations.
The couple was captured crowd surfing and leading singalongs while hitting the dancefloor.
After her hen’s party Turner posted to Instagram a life size cut-out of Heppell and said she had the greatest friends in the world.
Heppell proposed in December 2022 after they’d been together for 12 years.
“Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day and couldn’t ask for a more perfect fiance to spend the rest of my life with,” he posted on social media after popping the question at The Oaks beach in Victoria.
Turner added: “It’s always been a yes, but now he’s officially stuck with me.”
