Alleged predator Joshua Brown was previously sacked from Werribee childcare centre

Alleged pedophile Joshua Brown was dismissed from a job at a Werribee childcare centre just 18 days into his new role, months before going on to work at the centre where he is accused of alleged abuses.

Alleged pedophile Joshua Brown lost his job just 18 days into a new role, new revelations about the childcare worker’s employment history suggest.

Mr Brown was dismissed from Nido Early School’s Werribee centre for breaching the company’s internal policies around the handling of incident reports.

Nido Early School confirmed Mr Brown’s termination from his role on Thursday.

“This related specifically to unsatisfactory attention by the individual to an incident report concerning a child’s behaviour towards another child,” it said.

“The action did not relate to any behaviour by the individual towards a child.”

According to employment records listed on the state government’s website, Mr Brown worked at the centre from June 21 to July 14, 2021.

Nido Early School said he was still on probation when the incident occurred.

“We have zero tolerance for the noncompliance to our internal policies, no matter how trivial they sound to external parties,” it said.

“We supervise all staff closely, with additional attention given to new starters. In this case the breach of internal policy led to termination.

“Nido has fully co-operated with Police and other departments.”

Nido Early School in Werribee was the last centre Mr Brown worked at before he was employed by Creative Garden Point Cook — the same place where he allegedly committed over 70 offences relating to child sexual abuse.

This latest revelation comes less than a day after World of Learning in Point Cook was named as the 24th centre Mr Brown worked at in his seven years as an early childhood educator.

Mr Brown only worked at this centre for one day on August 24 in 2023.

Another four new centres that weren’t on the original list were also announced on Tuesday. At the same time, police removed Papilio Early Learning in Hoppers Crossing from the original list as Mr Brown was never employed there. This brings the total number of centres where Mr Brown was employed to two dozen.

The Herald Sun also revealed last week that he offered to privately babysit one of the children he cared for in 2022 while her mother was in hospital. His multiple invitations were declined.

Parents and colleagues have previously described Mr Brown as a “really nice young man” who got along quite well with the kids he cared for.

“He was bubbly and always wanted to be around the children, which at the time I thought was a good quality,” mother Melody Glaister told the Herald Sun.

“I’ve had so many conversations with him, (the charges) came as a complete shock.”

More than 2000 children have had to be tested for sexually transmitted infections after Mr Brown was charged with 70 offences relating to child abuse, including allegedly using his bodily fluids to tamper with food.

He is due to face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in September.
