Truck crash on Bruce Highway at McDesme between Ayr, Home Hill

Emergency crews are on the scene of a truck and vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway in the Burdekin south of Townsville.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed they had responded to the reported crash near the United Service Station in McDesme between Ayr and Home Hill just after 2.30pm.

Initial reports are that two occupants of the vehicle, a hatchback, had been freed from the wreckage and were unhurt.

Both victims were women in their 20s.

QAS said the women had been transported to Ayr Hospital.

The truck driver was also not believed to be injured.

Queensland Police Service said at 4pm that the road had been cleared although traffic remained backed up.
