A young motorcyclist who died in a crash in Townsville has been remembered by family as a beloved older brother who was always there to help through tough times.

Townsville man Blake Harrison, 24, has been identified as the victim of a horrific two-vehicle crash that shut down Nathan Street in Vincent for hours on Monday morning.

The young motorcyclist was sadly declared deceased at the scene, and a 35-year-old Kelso man driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Sedan was taken to hospital for observation.

Family and friends took to Facebook to express their grief and shock.

“This morning, my brother was involved in an accident which took his life — I don’t wish this pain on anyone,” his younger sister Alisha wrote.

She thanked those who had been first on the scene at the crash, who did their best to help him and ensured he didn’t feel alone in his final moments.

“Blake, you were my best friend on the best days and a pain in the a** on others, but you were my big brother,” she said.

“The only person in this entire world who understands me.

“Losing you feels like I’ve lost half of myself … Thank you for guiding me through life and holding my hand in the dark.

“Thank you for teaching me how to play football. Thank you for teaching me how to skate. “Thank you for teaching me to ride bikes. Thank you for being the best uncle. Thank you for picking the pieces up every time they’d fall.

“Thank you for growing up with me and being my big brother … I’m sorry I couldn’t change your fate. I’m sorry I wasn’t there …

“Please be safe on the roads. Kiss your loved ones a little more and hold them a little tighter today. God, I wish I could.”

Police said they are still investigating the circumstances of the crash and are appealing for witnesses and people with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
