Tributes are flowing for a man and woman from Sydney who died in a horrific crash along a notorious stretch of road in North Queensland.

Sydney residents Thomas Micheal Brady, 32, and Belinda Judy Waltisbuhl, 34, were killed in a single-vehicle crash at Damper Creek, 150km north of Townsville, on Tuesday.

Police said it appears the pair were travelling north on the Bruce Highway in a Holden Commodore when it rolled off the road some time on Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 6.15am after the overturned vehicle was discovered near the tree line about 1km north of Conn Creek bridge on Tuesday morning.

Tragically the male driver and female passenger were declared deceased at the scene.

Family members said Mr Brady — known by most as Tommy — recently travelled up to North Queensland from New South Wales to visit his dad.

In a moving tribute, his aunt Kristy Bowerman remembered Tommy as a “proud man” who loved his four young children dearly.

“He loved his babies — always wanted them to grow up strong and he was family driven,” she said.

“He loved cars, loved Australia, loved being happy and was always trying his best to smile.

“He was loved dearly by all whom knew him.”

Witnesses are urged to come forward with any information or dashcam footage that may assist in shedding light on the events leading up to the fatal crash.
