Townsville crime: Child hoons cause havoc in stolen car convoy

A group of youths — some who appear as young as 12 — have been caught on camera brazenly hooning around in Townsville in two stolen cars. See the footage.

A group of youths — some who appear as young as 12 — have been caught on camera brazenly hooning around in Townsville in two stolen cars.

Police are investigating after a stolen 2019 red Toyota Camry and 2014 white Ford Ranger were reported spotted driving in convoy in the Kirwan area on Tuesday.

Witnesses spotted youths — some who appear to be “very young” — hopping into the stolen vehicles behind Haymans on Harvey Range Road about 9.30am.

The stolen cars were spotted a few hours later by a resident who recorded them hooning near the power station on Dalrymple Rd about noon.

Police said the Toyota Camry was reportedly stolen from an adress on Batiki Cct, Burdell address between 10.30pm on Monday and 5.45am on Tuesday.

The car was located dumped at a Garbutt address on Tuesday afternoon.

The Ford Ranger was stolen from an adress on Pasteur Street, Wulguru about 3am on Tuesday. The vehicle has not been located at this stage.

Investigations are ongoing.
