First-time political candidate Alan Sheret, who was born on Magnetic Island, wants council to be more transparent.

Mr Sheret, who owns a small business specialising in road repair, has tried to go toe-to-toe with council numerous times, including protesting outside Walker St, claiming bias as he has missed out on contracts.

He lives in Alligator Creek but said he has a rental property close to Division 3, though not within it.

Among his priorities are fixing eroded Apjohn St, in Horseshoe Bay, and making sure Magnetic Island residents are not treated like “the poor cousins of Townsville”.
