Townsville business owner remanded in custody for alleged assault of daughter

The owner of a popular Townsville business has been denied bail for the alleged assault of a little girl, understood to be his daughter.

The owner of a popular Townsville business has been denied bail for the alleged assault of a little girl, understood to be his daughter.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a man in his 30s had been charged with common assault, assault occasioning bodily harm and breach of a domestic violence order.

The first two charges were DV-related offences,

She said Townsville Police would allege that the incident occurred earlier this year, saying the alleged victim was known to the man and aged under 10 years.

The girl sustained bruising to her legs.

The spokeswoman said police opposed bail

The man was remanded in custody to re-appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on July 4.

The alleged perpetrator cannot be identified due to the nature of the charges and his relationship to the alleged victim.
