Police are investigating the sudden death of a woman on Palm Island over the weekend.

On Sunday, September 1, emergency services were called to a Clump Road residence about 9am following reports a 39-year-old woman had sustained a life-threatening head injury.

She was flown to Townsville University Hospital for treatment, but passed away due to her injuries on Tuesday, September 3.

Police investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, and charges have not been laid.
