Three boys — aged 12, 14 and 15 — have been arrested after a spate of break-ins and stolen car ram raids rocked residents in Mount Isa.

Police in Mount Isa were called to a number of break and enters and stolen motor vehicles across the city on Sunday night and Monday morning.

It will be further alleged that one of the stolen cars was used to conduct ram-style raids at local businesses, including the Super Vape Store on Miles St.

In response, police quickly deployed Tyre Deflation Devices (TDDs) at strategic points in town, successfully disabling the vehicle used by the primary offenders.

The suspects attempted to escape on foot but were apprehended a short distance away.

Police, including officers from the property squad, worked throughout the early morning to identify further offenders who had also been taken into custody.

As a result, a 15-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy, and a 12-year-old boy were arrested and charged with a string of property-related offences in relation to all reported matters.

They are due to appear in the Mount Isa Children’s Court at a later date.

Acting Inspector Adrian Rieck praised the successful deployment of TDDs, stating, “I am happy that we were able to successfully deploy our Tyre Deflation Devices to put a stop to this senseless and dangerous activity.”

He added that while the primary offenders have been apprehended, the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected.

Police urge anyone with knowledge or CCTV footage of the incidents to come forward.
