A man remains in custody after the alleged serious assault and choking of a well-regarded North Queensland businesswoman.

The alleged incident involving defendant Ingolf Helmut Mueller was briefly mentioned in open court in the Ingham Magistrates Court on Friday.

Queensland Police Prosecutor Samuel Stewart told Magistrate Cathy McLennan that he had spoken to Legal Aid Queensland in Townsville to clarify what was occurring with the case.

It is the first time charges resulting from the incident on the same date have been heard in court.

“This is an additional charge of serious assault, for context Your Honour, there are two further serious assaults and one choking all arising on the same date,” he said.

“They were adjourned in Townsville today to August 22 in Townsville (Magistrates Court).”

Mr Stewart said in court that Mueller was currently in custody.

Magistrate McLennan transferred the Ingham charge to the same date in Townsville, excusing Mueller’s appearance.
