Fans will be able to throw their support behind the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys NRLW team on the field while raising funds for young women off the field.
As part of the NRLW’s Women in League Round, the Cowboys will host a fundraiser prior to the women running out against the Dragons for their first home game of the season next weekend.
The cocktail event will be held in the Club Lounge and include canapes, drinks and entertainment as well as a panel discussion on ‘Pathways for Women in Sport’ and a western grandstand ticket to watch the game. Thanks to the support from Queensland Country Bank Stadium and Ticketmaster Community Fund, all proceeds will go towards installing solar at NRL Cowboys House Girls Campus.
Defined by a striking modern chevron design, the Cowboys 2024 NRLW Women in League jersey celebrates the contributions of all women playing crucial roles at every level of our game.
Featuring the lavender colour which has become synonymous with the NRL’s Women in League Round, the jersey blends the traditional Cowboys navy and NQ heritage blue with splashes of the distinct teal colourway of the NRLW, recognising the growth of the women’s game in the North.
Cowboys CEO Jeff Reibel said the pre-game event would be a fitting way to open the team’s home campaign.
“It’s an exciting time for our NRLW athletes who are role models on and off the field,” Reibel said.
“Installing solar panels at the Girls Campus will enable huge savings in energy costs, which will then allow us to allocate more crucial funds towards the life-changing programs and opportunities at NRL Cowboys House.
“We’re extremely grateful to QCB Stadium who are not only supporting the event but have also donated $7500 from Containers for Change collections towards the $35,000 target for our solar campaign.”
The NRLW Cowboys had a win against the Titans in their trial earlier this month and will open their second Telstra Women’s Premiership season against the Sharks at PointsBet Stadium on Saturday, before returning for their first home game.
NRL Cowboys House is a unique, culturally-safe boarding facility for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women from remote communities to attend partner schools in Townsville.
