Cliffo and Kate’s Jersey Fridee calling on the community to show their Cowboys colours

Two Townsville radio stars are calling on the community to boost finals fever this Friday by wearing a Cowboys jersey to work and school. Their advice? Don’t wait for permission, ask for forgiveness later.

Two Townsville radio stars are calling on the North Queensland community to ditch their work and school uniforms on Friday and instead don their blue and gold jerseys as they look to instil a bit of fear into the Newcastle Knights when they land in Cowboys country.

Guy “Cliffo” Clifton and Kate Jeboult have made the push for their ‘Jersey Fridee’ which they are expecting to be endorsed by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Thursday’s radio show.

This comes after Cowboys coach Todd Payten said during a press conference that he wants fans to create a “hostile environment for the opposition” during Saturday night’s final.

Cliffo said that all schools and workplaces should get involved.

“Be a bit naughty, be a bit cheeky. It’s easier to seek forgiveness than ask permission,” Cliffo said.

Not only has the initiative gained support by Cowboys stars, but also 3rd Brigade’s Brigadier Dave McCammon who gave his permission for his soldiers to ditch their camo uniform and spread some finals fever.

“Brigadier McCammon made a good point, he said there’s bigger things at play here, it’s becoming like part of the team so I think if he is saying that we are all part of the Cowboys team then we are encouraging everyone to do the same thing,” Jeboult said

Employees, bosses, students and staff from all workplaces and schools are encouraged to wear their colours proudly to ensure the Newcastle Knights are more aware than ever that they are stepping into Cowboys country.

“All of the players we spoke to yesterday, not only did they endorse it but they were like ‘that’s really cool’ and the vibe is that it means something when they see people in their jerseys it helps amp up the boys,” Cliffo said.

“The crowd is always the extra player off the field so we’re just trying to start that a day early for the Cowboys.”
