Soldiers will march through a North Queensland town to celebrate a milestone anniversary in a ceremonial parade that’s likely to `have the entire region interested.

Soldiers will march through the streets of Charters Towers to celebrate the city’s 150th anniversary.

The 10th Force Support Battalion will conduct the Freedom of Entry while carrying weapons through the town centre on September 9, 2022.

The Freedom of Entry will run from 5pm to 6pm on September 9 along Gill and Mosman Sts.

Deputy Mayor Graham Lohmann said he was excited to have the Battalion march through the town.

“To see these service men and women with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, drums beating, colours flying and band playing will be a spectacular sight to behold,” Mr Lohmann said.

Following the march, a ceremonial parade will take place in front of City Hall, followed by an opportunity for the Battalion to socialise with the community at the Charters Towers RSL.

Amphibious vehicles, cranes and other specialised equipment will be put on display at the Showgrounds on Saturday, September 10, from 8am to 12pm.

The 10th Force Support Battalion was granted Freedom of the City of Charters Towers in September 1998, and exercised in 1999 and 2006 previously.
