April 11: A woman allegedly stabbed a security guard in the leg and a woman twice in the head near a Darwin business.
An NT Police spokesperson said the security guard had been escorting the woman off the premises when she allegedly attacked him with scissors at 5.17pm Wednesday.
The spokesperson said the woman then went to the Darwin Bus Exchange and allegedly stabbed a woman’s head twice.
They said members of the public helped the security guard at the scene until paramedics arrived and took both victims to Royal Darwin Hospital.
The spokesperson said CCTV operators were able to identify and locate the woman, leading to her arrest on Wednesday.
The woman had not been charged as of 8.30am Thursday.
Crime Duty Crew Detectives and Crime Scene Examiners continue to investigate the incident.
The spokesperson urged witnesses to contact police, including anyone with dashcam footage of Mitchell St between 5pm and 6pm Wednesday.
Vet clinic owner assaulted, servo targeted in night of break-ins
April 11: Two children are on the run after they robbed a Darwin service station with an axe.
Northern Watch Commander Theo Karamanidas said the duo targeted the Smith St Caltex at 3.15am Thursday.
Sergeant Karamanidas said the children stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes.
He said the service station’s staff members were not injured in the incident.
Sergeant Karamanidas said the pair had not been identified as of 6am Thursday but he was confident they would be found by Strike Force Trident.
In a separate incident, Sergeant Karamanidas said police were investigating a break-in at Katherine Vet Care.
He said about five young people were caught on CCTV entering the premises at 3.30am Thursday.
Sergeant Karamanidas said the owner “disturbed” the group, and he was assaulted before the group fled the scene.
He said the clinic’s owner was not injured in the attack.
Women’s alleged meth stash uncovered by detectives
April 10: Two women have been ordered to face court after NT detectives swooped on a Top End property, allegedly finding a commercial amount of methamphetamine.
NT Police said Operation KAPOK detectives from the Drug and Organised Crime Division were targeting a criminal syndicate involved in the supply of commercial quantities of meth.
As part of the operation, police on April 8 executed a search warrant on a property at Bees Creek.
The search allegedly resulted in a 500g meth find and the arrest of two women.
A 68-year-old woman was charged with possession and supply of a commercial quantity of a schedule one dangerous drug.
A 32-year-old woman was also charged with the possession and supply of a commercial quantity of a schedule one dangerous drug.
NT Police in a statement said the younger woman was also charged with offences associated with other search warrants that had taken place on March 26 and April 3 that had “resulted in the seizure of a commercial quantity” of meth, cash and firearms.
Her other charges included:
> Possess schedule one dangerous drug – commercial quantity
> Supply schedule one dangerous drug – commercial quantity
> Possess schedule one dangerous drug – traffickable quantity
> Receive or possess property obtained in the commission of an offence
> Possess or use a prohibited firearm x2
> Fail to meet storage requirements
> Possess ammunition without a permit/licence
> Possess a thing to administer a dangerous drug
Both women appeared in Darwin Local Court on April 9 and have been remanded in custody to appear at a later date.
In response to seizing half a kilo of meth, Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Timothy Gardiner said the operation was a “testament to the tireless efforts of our dedicated detectives”.
“The significance of these interventions cannot be overstated, as they deliver a significant blow to the illicit drug trade in the Northern Territory,” he said.
“These operations protect our community against organised crime, which preys on the suffering caused by these dangerous substances, leading to addiction and crime.”
Barking mad: Teen arrested after alleged dognapping, car theft
April 10: A teenager who allegedly stole a car with a seven-year-old dog on the back seat has been arrested.
Northern Watch Commander Steve Rankin said the 17-year-old boy was allegedly spotted driving erratically across Malak oval about 6.37pm Tuesday.
Sergeant Rankin said that soon after the vehicle’s owner reported it was stolen from the vicinity of a hotel near the Darwin Airport.
He said the owner told police his seven-year-old dog – Ralph – was still on the back seat.
At about 7.30pm, police found the vehicle crashed and abandoned in Karama.
Police say the teenager had run from the vehicle before going on to allegedly threaten an occupant at a residence with an “edged weapon”.
Sergeant Rankin said the teen’s ankle monitor and reports from the public helped police track him down, and the boy was arrested.
He said the teen remained in custody and investigations were ongoing.
Sergeant Rankin said he expected the teen would be charged in relation to an “array of offences” by lunchtime Wednesday.
NT Police in a statement said Ralph was later reunited with his owner by officers.
