Tom Stewart and Patrick Dangerfield lead from the front as the Cats go down by 11 points to Brisbane

A dominant Geelong key defender was sent to the centre while the captain delivered two, team-lifting goals when it was needed most. Vote for your best Cat against the Lions.

It was far from Geelong’s best display against Brisbane at the Gabba but the Cats did well to almost pinch the game on Saturday.

The Cats found themselves more than five goals down – in a game where six-pointers where hard to find – but came home strong in the final quarter, to cause a few nervy moments for their opponents.

With the Cats losing the contested ball battle, Tom Stewart, who had been strong down back, was sent to the middle in the second half by Chris Scott to give his side a spark.

He would finish the game with 25 touches and nine marks to be one of Geelong’s best.

While he didn't get bulk touches, Patrick Dangerfield delivered two, team-lifting goals from the paint of 50 to go with his 17 possessions, just when his side needed a lift in the second and third terms.

The captain shook off a knock, which drew blood and sidelined him for important minutes, to be part of the game’s drastic shift in momentum.

Playing his third game after a stint as the sub, Jack Bowes continued his solid form of late with 24 touches and five marks before being subbed out.

Meanwhile, Mitch Duncan also collected 23 touches and nine marks.

Proving it might not be your day but it can be your moment, Jeremy Cameron kicked three goals after half time when his side needed him the most, albeit two through some defensive sloppiness from Brisbane.

However, the star forward would slot his third – the recipient of Isaac Smith’s dash through the middle – as the Cats threatened to overrun the home side in the final quarter.
