PREMIER Peter Gutwein has encouraged Tasmanians to "be kind to each other" and "be respectful".
He again labelled panic buying as "un-Australian" and "un-Tasmanian" and said there was no need for people to fight over groceries.
“If I could just say to Tasmanians, we will take every step, every action that we can to ensure that your health, wellbeing and safety is a priority and we will take the measures that we can ensure that we continue to keep the economy strong,'' he said.
Charities and organisations, such as St Vincent de Paul, are supporting the most vulnerable people in our society amid fears of the virus.

CEO Lara Alexander said the virus would challenge us in ways we’ve never been challenged before, but amid the uncertainty one thing was certain: “we are confident that Tasmanians will work together and help each other over the coming months.”
Small businesses have also begun to spread messages of hope in the form of flowers, food, or accommodation for those doing it tough.
This is why the Mercury is launching the #togetherfortassie campaign. Alongside our news coverage, we want to help unite the state during this crisis.
To do this we will provide practical support and advice, celebrate the workers on the front line, assist Tasmanian businesses, and help to maintain community spirit in this time of isolation and uncertainty.
If you have a story of kindness, caring idea or know a Tasmanian doing good deeds, please get in touch with us on Facebook or use the hashtag #togetherfortassie on social media.
