LOW-COST airline Tigerair has announced it will resume direct services between Hobart and the Gold Coast from October 30 — just in time for the summer season.
The Melbourne-based airline will operate three return services per week, year round, joining Qantas, Virgin Australia and Jetstar in the list of airlines plying the route.
Tigerair Australia CEO Merren McArthur said the company was focused on offering low fares and choice to travellers.
“We are thrilled to be offering flights between Hobart and the Gold Coast, two of Australia’a most popular tourist destinations,” he said.
Tigerair first offered the service over a short summer season from December 2017 to April this year as a trial.
The three weekly return flights will operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The airline has advertised sale prices for travel between October 30 and December 13, with a one-way flight on the new service starting from $69.95.
The Gold Coast, just south of Brisbane, is a popular holiday destination, offering theme parks and beaches aplenty.
Tigerair Australia operates 12 A320 aircraft and three B737 aircraft domestically across 22 domestic routes to 13 destinations around Australia.
