Three men allegedly fled from a burning car following an extensive police chase through the streets of Palmerston and Darwin.
NT Police have arrested a 24-year-old and an 18-year-old man following an alleged pursuit in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It is alleged officers were flagged down by members of the public in Palmerston at 2am to report three men in a Toyota Landcruiser were attempting to break into homes.
Within 17 minutes police had located a vehicle matching that description, but the driver allegedly failed to stop .
It was alleged the Landcruiser led police on a pursuit down Kirkland Dr, onto Tiger Brennan Drive and into Malak.
Police allege the three occupants abandoned the car “after it caught alight” on Kapok Court, Karama.
Firefighters were called to the scene as police established a cordon around the flaming vehicle.
The NT Fire Map said the fire was initially reported at 2.37am, with the incident closed just over an hour later.
Police allege an 18-year-old man was arrested, and allegedly had “two large, edged weapons which were tucked into his pants”.
Police said he was expected to be charged with weapons and alcohol-related offences.
A 24-year-old man who was allegedly “hiding nearby”, was also arrested but later released pending further inquiries.
Another 24-year-old man was arrested at a Malak home, with police alleging he was the driver of the car.
He is expected to be charged with multiple traffic offences.
