Three male soldiers, all aged 23, arrested following investigation by Queensland Police Service

Three ADF soldiers have been arrested in Townsville after a Queensland Police investigation into alleged drug trafficking.

Three men have been arrested following their alleged involvement in a drug trafficking syndicate.

The men, all aged 23, are understood to be current serving soldiers living in Townsville, serving with 3RAR.

A 23-year-old Kirwan man has been charged with 22 offences including , one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying, stealing, receiving tainted property, two counts of possessing anything used in the commission of crime and fourteen counts of supplying dangerous drugs.

A 23-year-old Bohle Plains man and a 23-year-old Annandale man are both facing seven charges each including one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying and five counts of supplying dangerous drugs.

Police from Townsville’s Major and Organised Crime Squad made the arrests on December 12.

No drugs were found during the arrest, but police allege cash seized through intercepted mail had been intended to buy drugs with the purpose of reselling for profit.

All three men have been released on bail and are due to reappear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on February 10, 2025.
Police advised that investigations are continuing.

The Australian Defence Force said in a statement that they were cooperating with Queensland Police and does not condone the use of prohibited substances, adding they take incidents of this nature seriously.
