POLICE are investigating after medication and cash was stolen from two Launceston pharmacies on Monday night.
Acting Inspector Nick Clark said two or three offenders forced entry to the Youngtown Pharmacy on Hobart Road about 9.15pm by damaging and jemmying open the front door.
“A quantity of medication was stolen,” he said.
“Offenders were seen getting into a small black hatchback car which drove from the scene.”
About 20 minutes later, offenders entered the Trevallyn Pharmacy on Gorge Rd by
damaging the front door to the store and stole medication and cash before leaving on foot.
“A small black hatchback car was seen in the vicinity of the pharmacy at the time.”
Acting Insp Clark said the offenders targeted similar kinds of prescription medications in both burglaries and warned the public not to take medication that was not prescribed to them.
“If you’re offered medication that’s not yours, whether it be prescription or non prescription, don’t take it,” he said.
“Any medication that’s not specifically prescribed to you, whether it be medication received from the doctor from the hospital is specifically for you, don’t take other people’s medication or medication that is not prescribed to you.
“Police would like to speak to anyone with information in relation to the burglaries or
sightings of a black hatchback car or suspicious activity in the area at the time.”
