A Launceston man has been refused bail after allegedly bashing an off-duty constable and his brother out the front of a bottleshop.

A LAUNCESTON man accused of bashing an off-duty police constable and his brother and attempting to hit the officer with an axe is being held in custody after being refused bail in Launceston on Monday.
Luke Krushka, 22, was arrested following the CBD incident at 10.40pm on Friday on the corner of York St and Bathurst St outside of a Dan Murphy’s bottle shop.

He appeared in Launceston Magistrates Court on Sunday morning and again on Monday charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer and two counts of common assault.
Police have alleged Mr Krushka pushed the constable Thomas Moir in the chest, grabbed him by the throat, punched him in the face twice and swung an axe at him.
It is also alleged Mr Krushka punched the constable Moir’s brother Matthew Moir in the face multiple times.
Magistrate Simon Brown refused Mr Krushka bail.
He will appear in court next on June 25.
