According to the Department of State Growth, drivers and vehicle owners are legally responsible for ensuring any loads carried are securely restrained, must be secured so as to not become loose or detach from the vehicle, and must not present a danger to people or property.

With police out in force for Operation Crossroads across the Easter break, motorists have been reminded of the need to drive safely this holiday period.

The driver of the ute will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
