Launceston Grammar students learn from developer and businessman Errol Stewart

Budding entrepreneurs have received advice from Tasmania’s top businessmen, including how to make and keep business relationships, but also how to help others.

Entrepreneurship: How to be a complete boss at being your own boss

LAUNCESTON students have learned from one of the state’s premier businessmen as part of a new entrepreneurial initiative.

Launceston Grammar’s new Entrepreneurs’ Club is open for students in Grades 7 to 12 who are keen to grow a current enterprise, make a business idea a reality, or are eager to learn all about entrepreneurship.

At the club’s first meeting on Wednesday, students had the opportunity to engage with renowned Launceston businessman and developer Errol Stewart.

Grade 12 co-captain Thomas Foster thanked Mr Stewart for taking the time out of his day to speak with them.

“The opportunity and the guidance that Mr Stewart gave was unmatched,” he said.

“We are so fortunate to be able to hear from a leader in the field we are all aspiring to get into.”

Jack Colgrave, also in Grade 12, said Mr Stewart provided fantastic insight and advice into the life of entrepreneurship and business.

“He taught us that no matter what happens in life you must always trust people, build strong relationships and connections, chance your arm and most importantly he taught us that failure is only failure when you don’t learn anything from it.”

Enterprise and learning club coordinator Christopher Ellison said the club didn’t just focus on making money and profits — it encouraged students to implement ideas designed to help others.

“Ultimately, students will showcase their products and or services via a shark-tank like pitching competition which will be judged by a panel comprising local industry experts and community leaders,” he said.
